A food-scrap liner deals with much more moisture and concentrated organic waste.
That changes the design priorities. A 4-gallon compost-bin liner should be tested for:
- wet bottom-seal performance;
- leakage after several hours;
- easy opening with damp hands;
- fit around countertop bins;
- removal without tearing;
- storage stability in warm kitchens.
It also needs clearer disposal communication. A bag designed for food scraps should not imply that every local composting program accepts it.
A small bathroom trash bag may carry mostly dry, lightweight waste. Using the same formulation for both products may be convenient for manufacturing, but it is not necessarily good product engineering.
