Natural fiber and flexible polymers behave very differently.
Bamboo fiber tends to absorb moisture, while many polymer systems are relatively hydrophobic. If the fiber is not dried, sized, dispersed, and compatibilized properly, it can create small defects or weak interfaces inside the film.
Common problems include:
- uneven thickness;
- surface roughness;
- reduced elongation;
- pinholes;
- poor heat seals;
- inconsistent tear behavior;
- odor or color variation.
This is why the commercial value is not simply the bamboo fiber itself. The real technology is in controlling particle size, moisture, dispersion, interfacial compatibility, and the processing window.
