Laboratory tensile data alone is not enough.
A realistic validation program should include:
- seal-peel strength;
- puncture and tear testing;
- drop testing with actual products;
- abrasion against conveyors and cartons;
- compression under stacked parcels;
- high- and low-temperature conditioning;
- humidity exposure;
- label adhesion;
- barcode readability;
- simulated courier handling.
I would also run a pilot through the real fulfillment network.
Package failures often come from interactions that are difficult to reproduce in a single standardized test—for example, a book corner pressing against the film after several hours of compression.
The best test is a combination of controlled methods and real shipments.
